FADE by Tanya Saracho
Plot Synopsis: FADE is a witty, behind-the-scenes look into Hollywood’s writers’ room. When Lucia, a Mexican-born novelist, gets hired on a new detective show for her first writing job, she immediately feels out of place in the heavily white male-dominated industry. She quickly becomes friends with the only other Latino person in the office, the janitor, Abel. As the two become closer, Abel’s stories begin to seep into the scripts that Lucia writes, leading to harsh consequences. FADE, at its core, is a play about class, race, and gender within the Latino community. It is a play about survival while trying to stay true to who you are.
Setting: An office in a film studio, after work hours, taking place in the present day.
Duration: Approx. 90 minutes, no intermission
Characters:
Lucia: Latina, Late 20’s – author/writer, acculturated. A bit “fresa” but she’s just a very Americanized Mexican.
Abel: Latino, Early 30’s – janitor, born in the U.S. and raised in LA. Mexican-American but very much Mexicanized. Definitely has some issues to work through.
Note: while the characters stated in the play are listed and described as Mexican, the roles are open to all Latin-American actors.
To Audition:
No monologue preparation needed. Instead, be prepared to share a short 30 second story about yourself that involves either your upbringing, family, or just something that makes you very passionate. Sides will also be provided to read from. Callbacks will include doing scenes with another actor. We will also be looking for understudies for the two roles. Understudies will be guaranteed a performance during the run of the show.
Sign-Up for a time slot and fill out an audition form (both required)
Sides and Script Available here
Rehearsals: First read thru will be September 8th at 6:30 pm. Rehearsals will tentatively run Monday-Wednesday, 6:30-9:30 pm (may change pending casting). This is a very small play with only two on stage roles so rehearsal attendance and off-book deadlines will be crucial/mandatory.
Conflicts: Please list all conflicts between September 8th- October 2nd on your audition form. Conflicts not listed will not be excused unless true emergencies/illness. Too many non-emergency/illness conflicts may cause in recasting.
UNDERSTUDIES: We will be casting 2 understudies who will also have a guaranteed performance.
If you cannot make auditions but still want to be considered, please reach out as soon as possible before August 29th to arrange for an alternate time or video audition. Email stationtheatreCU@gmail.com. Any questions, please contact the director at jackiemoreno526@gmail.com.

Predictor by Jennifer Blackmer
Directed by June Clark Eubanks
Based on true events, PREDICTOR is the real-life story of Margaret Crane who, in 1967, became the (uncredited) inventor of the home pregnancy test. Moving fluidly through past, present, and future in an absurdist comic romp, the play takes us into the whirling complexities of Meg's mind as she contemplates a simple patent application: will Meg’s world-changing invention fall into morally-disputed oblivion, or will she make a huge personal sacrifice to change the shape of women’s lives forever?
THE CAST:
Meg Crane - Kirby Toalson
Chorus #1 - Tiphaine Kouadou
Chorus #2 - Mary Ellison
Chorus #3 - Michaela Kruse
Chorus #4 - Nathan Bohannon
Chorus #5 - Trent Sherman
Chorus #6 - Aaron Clark
Understudies - Krystal Moya, Erica Holmes, Noah Mollett
SETTING: Various locations in NYC circa 1967 with flashbacks to the 1950's, shifting from realism to theatrical surrealism and back
DURATION: Approximately 135 minutes, with one intermission
